Access to drinking water
Campaign objectives

Reduce, through access to water, hygiene and sanitation, the morbidity of Neglected Tropical Diseases, covid 19 and other diseases, in the communities of Bobia and Otehoa.

Description

Currently, in the community of Otehoa (Ivory Coast), there is no water supply from the well, since the hydraulic system is damaged. The water reaches the community by manual transport thanks to women and girls who carry it in small containers every day, storing it in homes for consumption, with the enormous risk of contamination and infection that this situation can cause. Women and girls are the providers, users and administrators of water in the home, and therefore, the ones most affected by its scarcity. And for the investment of time they make. This causes a higher risk of poverty, and has negative impacts on health, sanitation and education.

At the same time, schools do not have handwashing devices so that girls and boys can learn and maintain hygiene habits that improve their health and reduce the risk of contracting diseases.

Access to drinking water will lead to a considerable improvement in the health of the population, especially of minors, reducing prevalent diseases in the area caused by the use of non-drinking water, such as Neglected Tropical Diseases (geohelminthiasis, Buruli ulcer , yaws etc) and covid, among others.

Activities

Reform the Water and Sanitation Facilities in schools.
