To provide basic assistance to people displaced from their homes.

To prevent the spread of infections and diseases such as cholera, zika, chikungunya and malaria.

Heavy rains and winds from hurricane Matthew have hit Haiti, Dominican Republic and Cuba, killing over 800 people and causing  enormous damage to infrastructure and livelihoods. There is a risk of spread of cholera in the short term and food shortages in the coming months.

Southern Haiti has suffered the most devastating effects. The capital, Port au Prince, reported damage to infrastructure such as houses and bridges, but the south of the country (departments of Grande Anse, Nippes, Sud and Sud-Est) suffered floods and it is estimated that big humanitarian needs will appear.

Oxfam teams have traveled to the most affected areas to respond quickly to the most urgent needs. The priority is to ensure water and hygiene kits to prevent diseases.

• To provide hygiene kits for families affected by heavy rains from Hurricane Matthew.

With 8.000€, hygiene kits for 600 families will be supplied.
