In response to security challenges, the Neighborhood Program focuses on prevention and creating safe spaces for children and their communities through sport and play. It operates at the heart of the neighborhoods and develops skills in boys, girls, and young people through socio-sport sessions.
Fútbol Más is an international NGO that was founded 17 years ago in Chile. It creates safe spaces for children, using sport and play to promote their well-being and connection with their communities. Its main mission is to promote the well-being of girls, boys, and young people by strengthening processes of resilience, meaningful relationships, and community cohesion through play and sport.
Through the Neighborhood Program, Fundación Fútbol Más embeds itself in the heart of the neighborhoods and uses their recreational spaces to carry out socio-sport workshops with the children. The game takes place on the field, but the community is built around it.
Children learn through sport and play while identifying and forming neighborhood leaders who will become role models for the children in their community.
Through Neighborhood Coordination Tables and Family Soccer sessions, adults are encouraged to join the program and participate actively, fostering community cohesion and teamwork. With the community engaged, safe public spaces are consolidated for the holistic development of children.
ON THE FIELD
Conduct socio-sport workshops four times a week, each lasting 90 minutes, which contribute—through the integration of sports and social components—to the development of life skills in boys, girls, and young people.
Organize community socio-sport events aimed at children, youth, and their families. These events promote exchange between different neighborhoods and/or sports schools. A celebration that encourages participation, values, and community empowerment.
WITH THE FAMILY
Facilitate community gathering spaces where parents and guardians work together to create a safe environment for children and promote the well-being of the community.
IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Promote community connection and management through local leaders who meet to work together and challenge their capacity for organization and leadership.
25 boys and girls aged 6 to 15 from marginalized neighborhoods in Chile, Mexico, and Peru will have access to socio-educational workshops for skill development through sport and leisure.
