GIRLS GET EQUAL: Girls' Leadership School
Campaign objectives

To contribute to the process of empowerment of girls and young women, through the development of their leadership skills and their knowledge of rights, promoting their citizen participation with actions of political influence in favour of gender equality and girls' rights.

Description

Child marriage and physical and sexual violence are the main obstacles for girls to access secondary school and to acquire the personal and academic knowledge that will facilitate their entry into the labour market and allow them to break out of the cycle of poverty.

Plan International works to defend the rights of young women and girls, so that they can actively participate in their community or country. Access to education for young people has been shown to be the solution to ending child poverty and gender inequality.

The "Leadership School for Girls" project is aimed at empowering girls between 14 and 18 years of age in situations of vulnerability for the prevention of gender violence, the development of their life skills, knowledge of their rights and the promotion of their citizen participation as leaders for change.

Through this 9-month training course, participants are expected to learn how to prepare plans for political influence and help fight feminicide.
